The gorge changes its color and character throughout the day as the river descends 1,885 miles to the Gulf of Mexico, with stunning vistas all along the way. One of our favorite views can be seen north of Taos, New Mexico, where high and low geographical points abound. From the majestic Wheeler Peak to the east, rising from the river at 13,159 feet to the depth of the gorge 800 feet below the valley floor, hikers, bikers, and travelers can enjoy the beauty that New Mexico brings. Commonly known as elk, these majestic creatures have existed as part of the natural landscape of RMNP for much of modern history. Our original design captures this prominent granite dome, known as Moro Rock, as it juts high in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Measuring 6725ft. high with 1000ft drops on each side, the cracks and knobs within the formation offer challenges for rock climbers. Located in the center part of Sequoia National Park, visitors can also climb the 400 steps up the steep 797-foot steel stairway, ascending this monolith to its summit for a panoramic view of the park.
